Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope it was restful and everyone is ready for a fun Term 3.
Please note that Student Led Conferences take place a week from next Thursday, on Thursday April 3, 2014. Students will be dismissed early, at 12:20 on that day. Please come and view your child's work, progress and classroom environment as early as possible on that afternoon. A portable conference is available to those students whose parents or guardians are unable to attend.
Students in Mr.Brown's Lit Block (Tyson, Vivian, Lexi, Arianna and Ava + students in Div. 10, 11, 12) will have a 1 hour tour of Ross Bay Cemetery on Thursday April 10 from 10:AM to 11:20. We are still short a few parent drivers for the quick trip from Monterey to Fairfield Plaza and back. If you could help out please let me know a.s.a.p.
Div. 9 class field trip on a nature walk/First Nations field study with our District Aboriginal Education teacher/counsellor Mr. Mark Albany on Monday April 10. Students will travel by BC Public Transit and will need bus fare. Also, please note the optional pick-up of students at Gyro Park at 2:30pm on that day. Go to "letters to Families" tab and download the letter "Mt. Tolmie day hike, 2014" please. Permission slips due next Monday.

Math: New unit MEASUREMENT in Journeys in Math textbook: Gr. 6s page 132 / Gr. 7s p. 67. due tomorrow.
Students must have a functioning 30 cm. long ruler.
Handwriting: students should be up to page 14 by now.

L.A. storyjumper.com is the site to go find Mr. Brown's account and each students blank digital storybook. Students can create their fun story over Spring Break if they wish. Please note in the assignment handout (available as a .pdf document below) that the story must have a main character, dialogue with correctly used quotations, a plot (use the Plot Profile to create rising action, climax and solution) and descriptive language. Each student has promised not to tamper with a book not their own.
