Rides are coming together. Thanks to Karen H, our classroom rep., for working on this.
Our classroom schedule has been slightly altered by FSAs for Gr.7 students recently. They will conclude early next week.
Scholastic Book orders coming home this week. If you buy something Scholastic gives us 'bonus bucks' to replenish the classroom novels for silent reading times. Please consider helping out the classroom this way.
Math test this Friday. Details to follow.
L.A. "Me in Shades" assignment missing from: #4, 17, 25.
French: Bonhomme de Neige assignment missing from: #26.
Carnaval Unit under way. All students have a 19 page booklet on Carnaval de Quebec ("Bienvenue" under Bonhomme on the cover) Page 16, "get your facts straight" to be reviewed next day. We will soon be working on stations to make our own carnaval in the gym--the term 2 theme project.
Science: As the moon wanes to New Moon, it will be harder to sketch its appearance in the sky. Today we used an iPad app to view its position and shape via Internet. We will shift to observing stars, constellations and planets for the next 1 to 2 weeks. Please read Chapter 16 in Science Probe 7 to have the background information. Also use your Astrolabe to estimate positions of stars and constellations, and your Star Chart to help.
Textbook questions on pages 327 (#1-5) and 333 (#1-5) require written responses, due Wednesday Jan. 29.
The Moon Study sheets are in the file below.

Please refer to the Tab 'Letters to Families' for your copy of the first Information Letter about the Grade 6, all-day field trip to Vancouver in February. Please download BOTH letters. Keep the yellow letter. Return the full page permission form called VancouverTrip_DistrictPerm2014 with payment, thanks. We are looking for a maximum of 2 parent volunteers who would join us and supervise a group of 8 or 9 students for the day. This trip is always a highlight of the Gr.6 year. Parent supervisors would be with us from 8:00AM to 8:00PM, starting and finishing at Swartz Bay ferry terminal. Please return the bottom of the letter to be included in the draw for these 2 spots.
