Week of May 12:
Reminders:
Hello to all Div 9 Parents:
You’ve all heard that there will be a raffle for wonderful baskets of goodies at the May 29th BBQ. These baskets are the start of a big PAC fundraising effort to build an exciting outdoor learning area and playground for Monterey students. A large section of our playground was seriously damaged in a wind storm last fall. and replacing this equipment falls under the jurisdiction of the PAC — ie. all the parents! A survey of all our students and teachers was conducted in the winter, to identify their needs and desires for the outdoor area. The survey results have helped the PAC Playground Design Committee to develop an exciting plan for playground revitalization, which will include new equipment and an open-air learning space.
There will be six baskets, each with a different theme, and each coordinated by two divisions. Our division 9 (along with Mr. Barne’s Div. 10) have been given the theme of “ARTS AND CRAFTS”. We are asking for parents to contribute items tied to our theme, sending them in to the classroom just like you did for the Holiday Hampers. A Sign Up Genius has been created that will give you ideas of the type of things we are looking for. Please have a look and find one or two items you could buy and send in with your
Raffle tickets for these baskets will be available at the school in the week leading up the the BBQ, as well as at the BBQ itself. Ticket prices are $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20.

Just to let you know, we hope to have a model of the plans for the Outdoor Learning Area and playground at the BBQ so you can see what we hope to achieve. And if any of you want to get involved, speak to the
PAC reps there, as there is a lot of opportunity to be involved with planning and fundraising. So please help us make a great outdoor area for our kids to enjoy! Contribute what you can by clicking on the link above and sending in something from the list by May 23rd.
