Look forward to an action-packed Term 3 in our classroom.
- We have a daylong field trip next Monday March 30 to Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre in Sidney and need at least 6 parent drivers to make it happen. Forgive the short notice but if you could help out please let me know by Wednesday this week. (even better: join the class for a day of marine animal studies in the morning followed by First Nations studies in the afternoon!). Please refer to the file 'ShawODC/Mt.Doug.pdf' file in Letters to Families (see tab above).
- Puppet theatre: each student must bring in 1 pair of clean socks to make into hand puppets by tomorrow (Tuesday March 24). We need puppet construction started so we have something to work with when Master Puppeteer Tim Gosley (of Fraggle Rock fame for those of us old enough to remember!) works in the class with us on Wednesday March 25.
- We go to Merlin Sun Theatre with completed puppets and excellent French skits scripted and rehearsed on Tuesday April 7, 12:30pm-3:00pm. Thank-you to Naomi (Kayla's mom) and Francesca (Natalia's mom) for agreeing to chaperone our walk to the theatre on that afternoon.
- Kayaking resumes with a half-day paddle for Blue and Green group on Friday April 17 (both groups on the same day). Green Group will paddle from 8:30 AM to noon (please drop off students at Willows Beach; they will walk back to school and be dismissed at 3pm by Ms. Thornton), and Blue Group will paddle from 12:30 to 3:00 (they will be chaperoned from the school by Ms. Thornton; parents may pick up at Willows at 2:45 or students will be walk back to Monterey with Mr. Brown).
- Term 2 Reports go home this Wed. Mar. 25. Please return the envelope a.s.a.p. Be kind to trees and help us re-use them in term 3. Student-Led conferences take place Wed. April 1 with early dismissal at lunchtime (12:20). Look for more info. in the Reports envelope.
