You are invited to an optional moon-gazing event this Sunday at UVic that will tie into our Astronomy studies later. See below!
Math: "Number theory" worksheet (on back of 100s chart) will not be due until after I complete this lesson, probably next Tuesday.
Have a great weekend `:->
Check Agendas! Today we generated the list (to left) which each student should have copied into his/her agenda. please add to this the obvious: wear a swimsuit!
Parents, please verify you have seen this by writing your initials in your child's agenda. [We write down homework every day in class; this is how you check what your son/daughter is doing.]
Thetis Lake Kayak Day: We think we have almost solved our driver shortage. Horray! While still waiting for a few pieces of paperwork from drivers this week, I have made a the following rides list so Green Group knows what's happening for next Monday. Please meet at the school for your carpool at 8:00 on Sept. 28 (Green) or Oct. 5 (Blue). (Please see the file below, "Thetis Lake Rides" to find out who is driving whom.)
For the other half of the class, you will continue your work with Ms. Thornton, including a walk to the marine environment with Ms. Thornton. Therefore, come with walking shoes, coats etc. for whatever weather on that day, plus pack lunch and water. Arrive at school at 8:50 on Sept. 28 (Blue Group) or Monday October 5 (Green Group).

MOSP Reflection #1 on your first day of kayaking was due yesterday. Describe the day including: what we did, in what order; (2) who your paddling partner was and how that went; and (3) the high point of your day. Still missing written work from (by classroom #): 4, 14, and 24. I look forward to reading your work.
We have a great year planned for the Ocean Studies Program that includes several field trips, but we cannot do it without your help. MOSP is less than $500 per students because we don't rent buses and do use the local environment. However, our kayak skills day works much better in fresh water. And we need your help! Next Monday September 28, for Green Group: Thetis Lake kayaking skills.
In the interests of student safety it is imperative we have parent drivers whose records show them to be safe supervisors of students. Thus, we need you to follow these really, really easy steps:
1. -Criminal Record Check. Only need it once every 5 years so if you get it sent to the school district it should be good until your son/daughter is in Gr.12. Your local police station can arrange it; takes about 2 weeks although you can ask them to rush it. For our Thetis Lake trip, even if you have started the process, let us know, get all the other forms in, and it might be OK.
2. Driver's Abstract: Available from ICBC. If you call the phone number on their website and talk to a representative they can email it while you are on the phone line. Try this web address: http://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing/getting-licensed/Pages/Your-driving-record.aspx
3. Fill out the school district's Driver Information form (Reg. 1241) -- click on the link below--and bring it to our school office with...
4. ...your current driver license (the school office will photocopy) and...
5. ...your current ICBC car insurance showing $1 million liability (the school office will photocopy)
6. Come see Mr. Brown who will invite you to press the "That was easy!" button.
